Machine Operator – Shot Peening
Location: Wilmington, NC
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Multiple Shifts Available
Employment Solutions is hiring a dependable, mechanically inclined Machine Operator for a local aerospace shot peening company in Wilmington. This is a hands-on position working with aircraft components in an industrial environment.
Previous shot peening experience is not required. The company provides specialized training, but candidates should have experience with CNC or manual machine operation or a strong hands-on mechanical background. We are seeking operators who understand machine setup, adjustments, measurements, and quality—not solely production-line button operation.
Available Shifts
All employees will train on first shift before transitioning to their assigned schedule.
- 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM
- Weekend Shift: Friday–Sunday, three 12-hour shifts
Responsibilities
- Operate shot peening equipment, hand cabinets, and wheel machines
- Set up, operate, and monitor machinery according to job specifications
- Handle and inspect aircraft components
- Read blueprints, measurements, shop paperwork, and work instructions
- Use drills, saws, bandsaws, and other power and hand tools
- Perform basic machine cleaning and routine maintenance
- Document production and inspection information accurately
- Follow all quality, safety, and aerospace manufacturing requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work independently while contributing to the production team
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of CNC or manual machine operation experience is highly preferred
- Automotive, motor, small-engine, or hands-on mechanical repair experience is a strong plus
- Car enthusiasts and candidates who enjoy rebuilding, repairing, or troubleshooting mechanical equipment often succeed in this role
- Experience with machine setup, adjustments, tooling, or precision measurements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed instructions
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment that may be dirty or dusty
- Able to work in varying hot and cold temperatures
- Able to bend, stoop, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Steel-toe footwear is required
