Location: Tampa, FL
Pay Rate: $42.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM start time
Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations while partnering with plant leadership to promote a safe and productive workplace.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space programs, along with a strong understanding of workplace safety systems and regulatory compliance.

Pay & Schedule

  • $42.50 per hour

  • Full-time position

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday-Friday

  • 7:30 AM start time

  • Occasional flexibility may be required based on business needs

What You'll Do

  • Support and maintain site Environmental, Health & Safety programs and initiatives

  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and workplace assessments

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions

  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards

  • Maintain EHS documentation, records, and reporting requirements

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to address safety concerns and drive continuous improvement

  • Track and analyze safety metrics and recommend proactive solutions

  • Assist with employee safety training, onboarding, and ongoing compliance initiatives

  • Support workers' compensation case management and return-to-work efforts

  • Coordinate with outside vendors, consultants, and subject matter experts as needed

  • Participate in sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives

  • Support capital projects to ensure safety and environmental requirements are incorporated into project planning

  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the facility

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

  • 3-5+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Machine Guarding

    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

    • Confined Space programs

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety programs, PPE requirements, incident investigation procedures, and environmental compliance standards

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a related field

  • Experience with EHS management systems and compliance software

  • Experience leading safety initiatives in a manufacturing environment

Certifications (One Required)

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and warehouse setting

  • Frequent exposure to production environments

  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including:

    • Safety shoes

    • Safety glasses

    • Hearing protection (in designated areas)

    • Long pants and appropriate work attire

  • Safety shoe reimbursement available

  • Exposure to machinery and industrial equipment

  • Occasional travel may be required
