Job Overview
Employment Solutions is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Manufacturing Team Lead for a manufacturing facility in Metamora, Michigan. This position is responsible for helping coordinate daily production activities, supporting production associates, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to guide coworkers while remaining hands-on with production and quality inspections.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily production activities and workflow for second-shift team members.
- Provide work direction and support to production associates.
- Promote workplace safety and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform first-piece inspections at startup, after job changes, and following equipment or mold adjustments.
- Conduct product quality audits every two hours and accurately document results.
- Inspect finished products for defects and verify product labels and identification.
- Perform product testing and use measuring tools, gauges, calipers, and other quality inspection equipment.
- Identify and report quality issues, equipment problems, downtime, and material concerns.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, and shift documentation.
- Assist with operating production presses and provide process support when trained and qualified.
- Help train new employees and reinforce safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
- Support continuous improvement, housekeeping, and quality initiatives.
- Communicate production updates and concerns to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of manufacturing, production, quality inspection, or technical experience preferred.
- Previous team lead, training, or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects.
- Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, product specifications, and quality standards.
- Willingness to learn production equipment and quality inspection tools.
- Ability to work the assigned second shift and overtime or schedule changes as needed.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete floors.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, kneel, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to visually inspect products, read labels, and identify color differences.
- Work in a manufacturing environment that may include heat exceeding 100°F, dust, occasional fumes, chemicals, moving machinery, and noise.
- Wear required safety equipment, including eye and hearing protection.
