Employment Solutions is hiring immediately for a Welder/Fabricator in Watkins Glen, NY. The right candidate will have a solid foundation in cutting and joining metal and other materials to the infrastructure of emergency vehicles. Attention to detail, a steady hand and the ability to multi-task is essential as there are multiple projects simultaneously being worked on.

Pay Rate: $21-$24
Job Type: Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Assembles and tack-welds steel and aluminum frames and other component parts of machinery and equipment in preparation for final welding.
  • Measures and mark’s locations for metal components on assembly table, following blueprint specifications.
  • Evaluates the quality of welds to identify any flaws or imperfections.
  • Prepare machines, torches and other tools for specific welding tasks.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal product.
  • Selects gauge and type of sheet metal, such as galvanized iron, copper, steel or aluminum/stainless steel according to product specifications.
  • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product.
  • Removes rough spots from castings, using portable powered grinder and hand file to fit and assemble parts.
  • Uses welding equipment and metalworking tools to repair and reshape metal parts; and
  • Follows safety procedures and uses protective gear to avoid eye and other injuries.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED and three (3) years’ experience in a related field; or
  • Technical degree in Welding and two (2) years’ experience in a related field; and
  • Professional certification, such as AWS D1.1.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, arc and oxyfuel welding.
  • Skill with manual and mechanical welding techniques.
  • Proven success in the preparation, reading and interpretation of blueprints, reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines; and
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
