Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
Schedule: Full-time | Day shift (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Employment Solutions is currently recruiting for a full-time Intermodal Interchange Clerk on behalf of a growing client in Wilmington, NC. This is a stable, long-term opportunity with room for advancement for candidates who are mechanically inclined and enjoy hands-on work.

Position Overview:
The Intermodal Interchange Clerk is responsible for inspecting intermodal chassis and containers during the in-gate and out-gate process to ensure they are roadworthy and cargo-safe. This role is performed outdoors under covered shelter and follows a set inspection criteria. On-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect intermodal chassis and containers during check-in and check-out

• Identify damage or mechanical deficiencies that occur while equipment is on the road with trucking companies

• Perform inspections based on established criteria, including:

  • Lights

  • Brakes

  • Tires

  • Mudflaps

  • Landing legs

  • Structural damage

• Accurately document inspection results using a tablet

• Report damages or safety concerns to supervisors

• Follow safety procedures and inspection standards consistently

Qualifications:

• Mechanical experience or background (automotive or similar field preferred)

• Ability to identify mechanical or structural issues

• Comfortable using a tablet for documentation and data entry

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

• Comfortable working outdoors under shelter
