Maintenance Supervisor (Machinist / Toolmaker)
Location: Farmington, CT
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000/year
Hours: 7 am – 3:30 pm
We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Department Supervisor to work onsite at our client. In this role, you’ll oversee machine maintenance and repair operations in a manufacturing environment. This role supervises maintenance technicians, performs hands-on machining and mechanical repair, manages work orders, and trains apprentices while ensuring safe and efficient operation of production equipment.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Department Supervisor to work onsite at our client. In this role, you’ll oversee machine maintenance and repair operations in a manufacturing environment. This role supervises maintenance technicians, performs hands-on machining and mechanical repair, manages work orders, and trains apprentices while ensuring safe and efficient operation of production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance technicians and apprentices; assign work and provide hands-on training
- Oversee repair, rebuilding, and installation of production machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform equipment dismantling and reassembly
- Perform machining tasks including designing, fabricating, grinding, and repairing machine parts
- Build small tools or equipment as needed to support production
- Use Manager Plus CMMS to manage work requests, create work orders, and maintain asset records
- Maintain MRO inventory, purchase repair parts, and manage spare components
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout and rigging practices
- Support preventative maintenance and equipment reliability efforts
- Machinist or Toolmaker Journeyman certification required in order to train and mentor apprentices
- 3–5 years of maintenance supervisory experience required
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and machining experience
- Experience repairing power press machines is a plus
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout, and rigging procedures
- Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems
- Computer literate
- Reliable attendance is an essential function of the position
